On October 15, U.S. Bank rolled out a new feature that lets cardholders track and manage digital subscriptions through the U.S. Bank Mobile App and online banking.

The update aims to give customers clearer insight and control over their ongoing payments. Powered by Mastercard’s Ethoca, the tool is free to all users and helps them identify active subscriptions and view itemized receipts from hundreds of participating merchants.

Spotlight Cards: Cash+, Shopper Cash Rewards and Smartly

This new feature pairs well with several of Forbes Advisor’s picks for the best U.S. Bank credit cards. These cards were evaluated based on factors such as earning rates, welcome bonuses, consumer benefits, the overall value of points or miles and more.

Here are some of our recommended cards that offer elevated cash back on popular subscriptions.

U.S. Bank Cash+® Visa Signature® Card*

The U.S. Bank Cash+® Visa Signature® Card* is one of U.S. Bank’s most flexible cash-back cards, allowing you to choose your top-earning categories each quarter. It charges no annual fee and earns 5% cash back on prepaid air, hotel and car reservations booked directly in the Travel Center, 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in combined eligible purchases each quarter on two categories of choice, 2% cash back on one everyday category such as gas stations, grocery stores or restaurants (excludes discount stores/supercenters and wholesale clubs), and 1% cash back on all other eligible purchases.

When paired with the new subscription management feature, Cash+ cardholders can quickly see where those recurring payments are going. If many of those charges are for streaming subscriptions, it may make sense to choose streaming services as one of your two 5% cash-back categories.

U.S. Bank Shopper Cash Rewards® Visa Signature® Card*

For shoppers who prefer to tailor rewards to their favorite stores, the U.S. Bank Shopper Cash Rewards® Visa Signature® Card* offers 6% cash back each quarter on combined eligible purchases from two retailers of choice ($1,500 limit), 5.5% cash back on prepaid car and hotel reservations booked through the Travel Center, 3% cash back each quarter in one everyday category of choice ($1,500 limit) and 1.5% cash back on everything else.

Some retailer options that qualify for 6% cash back include Apple and Chewy.com—both frequent sources of recurring subscriptions. The card also charges a $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95.

If your monthly charges include app store renewals or pet-supply auto-shipments, the subscription dashboard can help identify those expenses. This visibility can help you decide which merchants to feature in your 6% cash-back rotation and catch duplicate or overlooked charges.

U.S. Bank Smartly"™" Visa Signature® Card

The U.S. Bank Smartly"™" Visa Signature® Card takes a simpler approach, earning unlimited 2% cash back on every purchase and up to an additional 2% cash back on the first $10,000 spent in eligible purchases each billing cycle when paired with a U.S. Bank Smartly Savings account plus qualifying balances (terms apply).

For customers who prefer a set-it-and-forget-it approach, the card works well alongside the new subscription management feature and does not charge an annual fee.

You’ll automatically earn consistent rewards on everything from news subscriptions to software renewals—while using the dashboard to track where your money’s going and cancel unused services directly.

    Bottom Line

Rather than customers having to rely on third-party tools, U.S. Bank’s new subscription management features give cardholders the ability to view and manage their recurring subscription costs within the bank’s mobile app.

For Cash+, Shopper Cash Rewards and Smartly cardholders, the feature is a small but useful benefit. It helps align recurring payments with the cards’ highest-earning categories, reduces the likelihood of forgotten auto-renewals and supports better expense management.
